This project is raising funds to sponsor the school fees for 10 children with severe to profound intellectual disabilities who attend Cape Mental Health's Special Education Care Centres (SECCs) in under-resourced communities for one year.
These children are among the most marginalised in South Africa. Due to the intensity of their needs, they are often excluded from mainstream education and are not recognised within national education systems. As a result, they are denied access to essential services such as school nutrition, healthcare support, and education. Without intervention, many of these children remain at home, isolated and without opportunities to develop critical life skills.
Through our SECC programme, each child receives structured daily care, specialised education, and therapeutic support tailored to their individual needs. This not only improves their communication, mobility, and cognitive abilities, but also enhances their overall quality of life.
