This project is raising funds to upgrade a Grade 3 classroom specifically designed for neurodiverse learners from disadvantaged communities. The funds will be used to create a sensory-friendly environment and provide specialised literacy and numeracy resources to support children facing developmental delays and learning barriers, helping learners improve focus, engagement, and confidence in the classroom.

Sparrow Schools Educational Trust provides specialised education to children with neurodiverse learning needs from disadvantaged communities who are often excluded from mainstream schooling. Many of the children we support face significant barriers such as poverty, developmental delays, trauma, and limited access to appropriate educational support.

We recently opened our first Grade R classroom, providing young learners with a safe and supportive environment where they can begin developing essential skills such as communication, emotional regulation, early literacy, and numeracy. The demand for this programme has been overwhelming, with many families seeking access to specialised early intervention for their children.

As these learners grow, the need for continued, structured support becomes even more critical. We are seeing increasing demand for placement in our intermediate phase, particularly for learners who require a tailored learning environment to build on the strong foundation established in the early years.

We are therefore raising R100,000 to establish and equip a new Grade 3 classroom, creating a sensory-friendly learning space designed to support the ongoing developmental and academic needs of neurodiverse learners. This classroom will include specialised furniture, sensory learning resources, and a structured environment that promotes focus, confidence, and engagement.

This project will directly benefit learners who would otherwise struggle in mainstream settings, giving them the opportunity to strengthen their literacy, numeracy, and social skills at a critical stage in their education.

By supporting this project, you are helping ensure continuity of care — from early childhood through to primary school — in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Your contribution will help more children access the specialised education they need to thrive and reach their full potential.
