VULPRO, is fundraising to sustain the captive breeding for population supplementation and reintroduction programmes of endangered and critically endangered vultures. Their focus is on vulture conservation; thus, they yield direct positive benefits across the globe for vulture species in its entirety.
Currently, there are an estimated 4000 breeding pairs of Cape Vultures, and 8000 pairs of African White-backed vultures remaining. The work executed by VULPRO directly contributes to the preservation of these breeding pairs.
The project directly benefit wild vulture populations occurring in southern Africa through the
supplementation of wild population with rehabilitated and captive bred vultures. The release of
captive bred individuals into wild populations assists with counteracting the losses suffered from
indiscriminate use of poisons, lack of safe, regular food, wind farm collisions, electrocutions, poaching
and powerline collisions.
