This initiative is crucial for continuing the APD's vital quarterly project, which helps promote the dignity and well-being of individuals living with disabilities who face significant socio-economic hardships.

Sustaining Dignity Through Dry Stock Relief: A Legacy of Care by the Association for the Physically Disabled.

Established in 1934, the Association for the Physically Disabled (APD) has stood as a pillar of support for individuals living with disabilities in South Africa. For decades, the organisation has worked tirelessly to promote dignity, independence, and inclusion for its beneficiaries, many of whom face daily socio-economic hardships.

One of APD’s most impactful initiatives has been its quarterly dry stock relief project, which provides essential groceries and household items to its beneficiaries. This includes staple foods such as maize meal, soups, tinned goods, and other non-perishable items, along with basic cosmetics and hygiene products. These provisions not only support individual well-being but also enable APD’s home-based caregivers to extend their services to vulnerable groups who cannot afford these necessities themselves.

While this project has been sustained for many years, the organisation has recently faced increasing financial strain, making it difficult to continue providing this vital support at the scale required. In response, a compassionate crowdfunding initiative has been launched to raise R50,000, which will be used to supply dry stock to 231 beneficiaries of the APD.
