Your support for this project will directly fund expert training for K9 units, crucial for securing and preserving rhino populations. This vital work also strengthens broader conservation efforts for all species within these reserves.

Man's best friend has, for a number of years now, played an indispensable role in tracking down rhino poachers, sniffing out wildlife products, detecting illegal weapons, and being part of a close-knit team with their fellow rangers. Our involvement with K9s and their handlers spans more than a decade. During this time, we've celebrated nearly 40 successful K9 deployments, witnessed milestones reached by the dogs and their handlers, heard heartwarming stories from rangers that highlighted the deep bond that they develop with their dogs, and shared nail-biting accounts of close calls with dangerous animals (and poachers!) in the bush. A myriad of elements must come together to establish, maintain, and sustain an effective K9 Unit. Regular training sessions for these dogs, their handlers, and their fellow rangers are crucial for staying on top of the latest poaching trends and ensuring that the team works effectively and cohesively, especially under stressful and dangerous circumstances while tracking and arresting armed poachers. The funds raised by this project will help ensure that the carefully selected K9 units we support receive this expert training. Their work not only helps to secure and preserve rhino populations but also supports broader conservation efforts for all the species found in these reserves. The rangers on the frontlines, along with their K9 companions, need us all now more than ever.
