Esther Sithole is fundraising for Penreach STEAM Centre
by Penreach NPO
I believe Penreach STEAM Centre is a great cause. I am doing this because it supports Steamlearning which is important because it teaches critical thinking skills and instills a passion for innovation. Beyond the benefit of learning science, technology, engineering, and math, it assists in the problem-solving and exploratory learning that fuel success across a variety of tasks and disciplines.
Esther Sithole
Penreach NPC is fundraising to establish 10 STEAM Clubs and training 143 educators in rural communities in Mpumalanga to integrate 21st Century Skills into the CAPS lessons.
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. In school these subjects are usually taught separately. The STEAM approach is to combine the skills in a way that is more like how people work in the real world.Workers hardly ever use just one of these subjects. Consider an architect, they would use all of the STEAM subjects to do their job!
In addition to establishing the STEAM Clubs is communities, teachers and learners will be transported to the Penreach MAKERSPACE to experience computational thinking using robotics & coding, 3D printing, LEGO and learning through play.
Penreach is a Non-Profit, Public Benefit, Section 18a Organisation and operates in disadvantaged rural communities of Mpumalanga province. Penreach has several programmes (ECDs; Toy Library campaign e.g.) in areas where the household are low-income earners and without assistance, some would not be afforded the opportunity for quality learning.
