Goal

This project will provide 3 months of salaries to the Hospice home-based caregivers who provide vital and nurturing support to community members in need of Hospice medical assistance. 

HospiceWits provides care to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients and their families facing life-limiting illness. This is done with the aim of achieving the best quality of life for the patient in their homes. This project will provide the salaries for 2 In-Patient Unit/registered nurses for Hospices' home-based care patients in Soweto for a period of 3 months.

Home-based care

The focus of the home-based care is placed primarily on providing care to the patient in the comfort of their own home. Hospice do this through their network of palliative-trained professional nurses, doctors and caregivers. Social workers and psychologists also attend to emotional and psychosocial needs, in the form of counselling.
