Goal

This project will recruit 2 additional tradesmen who will be provided with e-learning, mentoring, group workshops and additional business via the Fix Forward platform.

Fix Forward is a non-profit social enterprise with a mission to help tradesmen from low-income communities to realise their potential as entrepreneurs. Our tradesmen go through a 6-month entrepreneur development programme, which includes 11 e-learning modules and 5 group workshops where tradesmen share experiences related to the themes of the e-learning. We also connect our tradesmen to additional client via an ‘Uber-style’ online platform. Together these interventions help them overcome the two primary obstacles, acquiring the skills to run a successful business and accessing the market effectively.

Fix Forward works with tradesmen from low-income communities. In these communities crime is high and opportunities for honest employment are limited. At the same time, people trying to build businesses that serve the outside, more affluent community struggle to attract clients, who are unwilling to trust them without some kind of guarantee. Similarly, people trying to build businesses in these communities often lack the formal training in how to run a business. As a result the enormous potential for businesses to meet people’s needs and create employment for others is not realized.
