E3 (Educate. Empower. Enlighten.) Youth Development Hub

In Mpumalanga, unemployed youth make up close to 70% of the total unemployed population.

Many of these youths have not had the benefit of a sound education backed by career guidance, parental/community support or available resources to build the skills, attitude and networks they require to launch their careers or businesses.

Within this context, E3 set out to support local youth to identify, develop and grow their own income generating opportunities.

Our mission is to facilitate innovative youth development through interactive training, mentorship, networking, business incubation and co-working opportunities.

The E3 programme participants are co-creators of their best possible future. An open-minded, flexible approach to personal learning means that, over and above the technical content that participants benefit from in our training sessions, they also play a key role in directing the course that their learning will take.

To tick all the boxes for a self-directed learning programme, we build our approach on three legs:

Educate

We apply a whole person learning approach that allows youth to develop the self-awareness and “soft skills” required for personal and professional development.
We provide innovative, participative learning opportunities and platforms that promote and develop entrepreneurial skills, with special focus on social entrepreneurship.
In partnership with the Accenture Skills to Success Academy, we guide participants through a tailor-made online workplace readiness programme.
We provide mentoring and networking opportunities, during and after our programmes, to reinforce learning and sustain motivation.

Empower

A self-directed learning journey empowers participants to take charge of the specific outcomes they wish to achieve as they build personal success portfolios and “fit for purpose” personal and/or business development networks.
We complement training sessions with the services of an on-site industrial psychologist, life coach, personal finance advisor and a regular law clinic.
We provide access to IT platforms that enable access to online learning courses, professional development networks, global peers and crowdfunding opportunities.
Upon completion of the programme, our alumni have ongoing access to our centrally located premises for the purposes of co-working, research, study, business incubation and collaboration.
E3 alumni play a critical role in co-creating the programmes and approaches of the E3 Youth Development Hub through the E3 Youth Committee where they can share thoughts and ideas about the work of the organisation.

Enlighten

- Our whole person learning approach promotes critical thinking, self-awareness, mindful living and a “pay it forward” attitude that encourages participants to make a positive difference by planning and implementing a community project.
- We expose participants to inspirational workshops, yoga and arts and culture events that support and enhance a range of skills.
