This project will enable a toy library to provide educational resources to children in rural South Africa.
A toy library is a high-impact, cost-effective, non-centre based programme that gives children, their families, early learning facilitators and early childhood development practitioners access to a collection of carefully selected educational play materials, play sessions and training on how to use the toys to encourage development. The funding of this project will enable children in rural communities to benefit from a toy library.
Cotlands is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation with a national footprint in South Africa, delivering play-based opportunities through toy libraries and early learning playgroups. Having a functional vehicle to reach the children is vital for service delivery.
Access to early learning playgroups can be a challenge, as many are located between 5km and 50km from resource centres. To bridge this gap, they bring essential resources directly to the playgroups and early childhood centres, ensuring that learning opportunities are within reach.
