Following the death of the alpha female at Somkhanda Game Reserve due to snaring, the reserve was able to acquire a new female from the nearby Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Just before Christmas the female Wild Dog, which was being held in the Somkhanda Game Reserve boma, was released and joined the two males and pups from the Somkhanda Wild Dog pack.
Amazingly, the new female was instantly accepted by the pack, resulting in another success story for this community-owned game reserve. Visit Wildlands’ project here.
