South Africa is vast and it is estimated that 70% of our country is not covered by any SPCA or welfare society.
The National Council of SPCAs works in all areas throughout South Africa, helping the animals most in need as-well as pro-actively inspecting all places where animals are kept and used.
We care about all animals, whether they are hairy, scaly, feathered or finned. From your companion dogs and cats at home, to animals used in food production and working animals such as donkeys and security dogs. Every life matters and deserves our help.
We have 8 focused action teams, each with a different focus including dog fighting, wild animals in captivity, animals used in research, animals in food production, working animals and animals in sport. We work at a national level and engage with stakeholders in Industry and Government.
Our outreach teams travel to particularly impoverished, rural areas of South Africa to improve the welfare of animals including primary health care, sterilisation and protection against parasites. This is in addition to educating local communities and instilling compassion.
The National Council of SPCAs responds to emergencies and disasters which may endanger animals and include fires, floods and road accidents with our operational personnel being on 24/7 standby for incidents.
We rely solely on the kindness of the public to enable us to help these animals; by donating you have made the difference.
