Goal

This project will make a community vegetable garden, run by disabled individuals, sustainable and more productive.

This already thriving 0.22 hectare vegetable garden will be given the necessary equipment to help make the garden more sustainable and help additional members of the community who are disabled benefit from the upgrade. Not only will the garden feed the families of those working it but through an innovative business plan will hopefully raise over R40 000 in the next five years through the sale of the produce.

Research by the UN FAO shows that, investment in agriculture is five times more effective in reducing poverty and hunger than investment in other sectors.

JAM (Joint Aid Management) and the Pushi Passion Unity organisation will be helping to create a more sustainable and successful vegetable garden for 27 women with many disabled people who regularly work in the garden.
