Where: meals to be delivered to Kids Haven, Benoni

Need: Kids Haven would appreciate any meals that could be prepared and shared with the children over this period. Please note that own budget is required for ingredients. The following would be appreciated: (1) morning tea and cakes/fruit; (2) lunch with dessert/yoghurt or fruit; and (3) supper.

MAKING BEAN BAGS KIDS HAVEN PRESCHOOL AND OTHER ECD CENTRES

Who: Kids Haven

When: Saturday 16 July and Monday 18 July, 2016

Where: Kids Haven Shelter, 34 Cranbourne Avenue, Benoni (Off Voortrekker Rd)

When: Saturday, 16 July 2016 and 18 July 2015

Need: Volunteers needed to sew different-sized and textured beanbags. Although Kids Haven has a few sewing machines available to competent users on the day, volunteers may also like to bring their own sewing machines. Volunteers are also needed to fill beanbags. Other needs are: (1) beanbag fillings: sandpit sand, dried beans and pulses of every shape and size, soft filling like kapok, marbles or pebbles, popcorn, matchsticks, polystyrene beads etc; (2) fabric of different kinds and textures – plain colours, fabric like satin or cotton or velvet or any textured fabric, different colours and different sizes; (3) scissors of your own to help with cutting; and (4) funnels to help with filling

Need: (1) knit a blanket; (2) crochet/knit a baby beanie; (3) cut blankets from fleece material; (4) collect used baby clothes; (5) host a nappy drive; (6) host a tea party and collect baby items; (7) collect pre-loved baby and pregnancy care books; (8) host a formula drive; and/or (9) nominate The Grace Factory as a beneficiary on your ‘My School’ card

PAINTING KIDS HAVEN VILLAGE

Need: Kids Haven has several rooms at the Village that need to be painted and spruced up: (1) bedrooms (some small, some large) in Sunshine House and Sunflower House; and (2) lounge/dining room in Sunshine House and Sunflower House. Please note own budget required for the paint and equipment.

PAINTING PADDOCK POSTS

Who: Society for Animals in Distress (SAID)

Where: SAID,The Paddocks, 20 Moerdyk St, Midrand

Need: Spend 67 minutes painting the paddock posts at SAID’s premises with creosote oil. Bring old clothes and gardening gloves. Make a group of 5 – 10 people and join in.
