MAKING MEALS FOR THE KIDS HAVEN KIDS

Who: Kids Haven

When: Saturday 16 July and Monday 18 July, 2016

Where: meals to be delivered to Kids Haven, Benoni

Need: Kids Haven would appreciate any meals that could be prepared and shared with the children over this period. Please note that own budget is required for ingredients. The following would be appreciated: (1) morning tea and cakes/fruit; (2) lunch with dessert/yoghurt or fruit; and (3) supper.

TREATING NIGHT SHELTER RESIDENTS

Who: Mould Empower Serve (MES) 

When: Monday 18 July, 2016 (or any other time, as arranged in advance with MES)

Where: Othandweni Women’s Shelter (40 people) and Ekhaya Men’s Shelter (120 people) in

Hillbrow, central Johannesburg

Need: toiletries, bedding, pillows, socks, gloves, beanies, scarfs and blankets

HELPING THE GROW HILLBROW TEAM

Who: Mould Empower Serve (MES) 

When: Monday 18 July, 2016 (or any other time, as arranged in advance with MES)

Where: Hillbrow, central Johannesburg

Need: accompany the GROW Hillbrow Team on their daily cleaning route of Hillbrow and/or help sponsor or donate shovels, hard brooms and gloves. You can also treat the team to a light snack or lunch after the work is done.

MAKING STATIONARY PACKS FOR MES’ AFTER SCHOOL SERVICES

Who: Mould Empower Serve (MES) 

When: Monday 18 July, 2016 (or any other time, as arranged in advance with MES)

Where: Johannesburg

Need: MES’ After School Services serve over 200 children, so pens, pencils, rulers and other stationary items are always needed

CARING FOR CRÈCHES

Who: Mould Empower Serve (MES) 

When: Monday 18 July, 2016 (or any other time, as arranged in advance with MES)

Where: central Johannesburg

Need: MES operates three crèches, each of them with a variety of needs. All three crèches love party pack treats and having a fun day. The crèches are also in need of nappies, baby wipes and formula. The Dinaledi crèche is in desperate need of 7 new carpets.

MAKING/PROVIDING CHILDREN’S COURT AND COMFORT PACKS

Who: Mould Empower Serve (MES) 

When: Monday 18 July, 2016 (or any other time, as arranged in advance with MES)

Where: Johannesburg

Need: MES Social Workers spend long hours with children at courts to ensure the safety and well-being of the child. MES provides children with a court pack including colouring books, a teddy bear, a snack, cool drink etc. A similar pack is needed for children who are taken to a place of safety or entering a foster care home.

HELP MOMS AND BABIES IN NEED

Who: The Grace Factory

Where: Anywhere

When: Any time

Need: (1) knit a blanket; (2) crochet/knit a baby beanie; (3) cut blankets from fleece material; (4) collect used baby clothes; (5) host a nappy drive; (6) host a tea party and collect baby items; (7) collect pre-loved baby and pregnancy care books; (8) host a formula drive; and/or (9) nominate The Grace Factory as a beneficiary on your ‘My School’ card

CLEARING OUT YOUR CUPBOARDS?

 

COLLECTING SECOND HAND (OR NEW) CLOTHING (4 – 18 YEARS OLD)

Who: Kids Haven

When: Saturday 16 July and Monday 18 July, 2016

Where: Kids Haven Shelter, 34 Cranbourne Avenue, Benoni (Off Voortrekker Rd)

Need: Kids Haven is having a Pop Up Shop so that the Kids Haven kids can choose an outfit. The following things are needed: (1) second hand (or new) clothing for children age 4 – adult; (2) clothes hangers and rails; and (3) volunteers to sort clothing and to hang/fold and display clothing in the pop up shop

TODDLERS’ SPORTS DAY (2- 4 years)

Who: Cotlands

When: 18 July 2016, from 10:00 – 14:30

Where: Rotunda Park, Turffontein, Johannesburg

Need: Cotlands is hosting a sports day for children from all Cotlands early learning playgroups across Johannesburg. The estimated cost per child to attend the sports day is R100, which includes transport, meals, play resources and a t-shirt. If you would like to support this initiative, you can either: (1) sponsor a child, or (2) help facilitate the games on the day. Each individual wishing to participate on the day is required to make a donation of R67 to Cotlands

OFFICE DAY OLYMPICS

Who: Refilwe Community Project

Where: your own office

Need: Refilwe is offering companies the opportunity to host their own team-building ‘Office Olympics’, comprising 12 events, which should take a total of 67 minutes to complete. It costs R6700.00 for a company to participate, and participants will receive a pack including an opening ceremony video; rules; a resource list; a description video for each event and a thank you video. Who: The Lunchbox Fund

Where: various feeding programmes across South Africa

Need: The Lunchbox Fund will be providing over 10 000 children on holiday programmes with a hot meal. One meal costs R2,50.
