At the time this article was written, 15:03 on Wednesday 11 April 2018, to be exact, 2,025 babies had been born since this day started.

While some babies may be born into middle-class homes, there are many who will be born into under-resourced homes. If you have children, you’ll know how expensive having a baby can be.

If your kids have grown up and you’re wondering what to do with all the baby stuff you no longer need, here’s a list of organisations you may consider donating to:

  • The Grace Factory (Johannesburg): new or used baby clothes, new or used baby blankets, new or used baby bottles
  • On The Move Laundry (Johannesburg): kids and babies winter clothes, kids and babies shoes in good condition, maternity clothes
  • Childline (countrywide): toys (soft and other), and kids and babies clothes
  • Wheel Well (Johannesburg): children’s car seats
  • Tshwane Place of Safety (Pretoria): all baby stuff (including strollers, cots etc.)
  • Forgood (country-wide) also has a useful list of NGOs that need childcare items

I am a volunteer with Tambo babies Boksburg. We deliver 120 hampers a month to the new mom’s at our local government hospital. What do you need from me to register on this platform? Regards Tina Moolman
